Puppy Socialization Class
The first two things new puppy parents learn are the need for their puppies to recieve their first vaccinations combined with the need for early puppy socialization with other dogs in a clean and hygenic environment.
The position statement from the "American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior” states "that it should be the standard of care for puppies to receive puppy socialization before they are fully vaccinated."
The first 16 weeks of your puppy's life is critical in teaching them to overcome fears and develope social skills around other dogs & people.
Village Dogworks & Ruff Club have now partnered to bring you puppy socialization classes called “Puppy Social Club” every Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m.
Puppy Social Club is a great way for puppies to meet other dogs, new people and learn the correct way to behave around them. Classes are supervised by Garrett Rosso from the American Professional Dog Trainer Association and are fun and stimulating for both puppies and owners, using only kind, fair and effective techniques that reward good behavior.
Each class takes place in a sterile environment where puppies are exposed to stimuli and supervised while playing with other puppies.
Each class is structured upon a weekly topic covering the challenges of raising a puppy in the city:
- Introduction to Leash, Proper Equipment and Walking On-Leash
- House Training, Diets, Optimal Nutrition
- Separation Anxiety, Crate Training and setting your pet up for being left home alone
- Problem Nipping & Destructive Chewing
There will be a short lecture at the start of every class plus ample time for questions & answers
We will also introduce your puppies to the foundation of obedience traioning using the "touch" and "watch" command as it's important for puppies to pay attention to us. A
There is ample play periods in every class supervised by our instructors and staff where owners will learn about puppy body language to help recognize what is play -- and what behavior should be interrupted.
All classes conclude with “Pass-The-Puppy” and a variety of city stimulie so your dog learns to accept stangers and all the distractions & sounds that come with city living.
